EDWARD I. HERBST
Edward Herbst is the co-founder of the Herbst Group and Head of Fixed Income Portfolio Management. Ed has worked in the financial sector for over 40 years. He began his career at Drexel Burnham and went on there to become a Senior Vice President of Institutional Options. For the next 15 years, Ed was as a General Partner and C.O.O. at Cowen & Company. In 2001, he joined Shields & Co. and in 2005 he co-founded the Herbst Group, which is dedicated exclusively to managing assets for wealthy individuals, families and foundations/endowments. Ed is on the Board of Directors for the American-Italian Cancer Foundation and was formerly on the Board of Directors of The Second Stage Theater. He received a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University. He attended the NYU Graduate School of Business.
BRIAN G. HERBST
Brian Herbst is the co-founder of the Herbst Group and Head of Equity Portfolio Management. Brian started his career with Bloomberg LP while still in college. He went on to hold multiple positions at Bloomberg before being selected as Deputy Chief of Staff to New York City for Mayor Bloomberg where he oversaw day-to-day operations of City Hall including the fiscal, human resources, facilities and technology divisions. Brian went on to be the C.O.O. for the NYC Committee Republican National Convention in 2002. After the convention, Brian was a Senior Vice President at Thomson Financial. He joined Shields & Co. in 2005 and co-founded the Herbst Group. Brian is on the Board of Directors for The Stark’s Foundation. He is on the Advisory Board for the Hassenfeld Center (NYU Medical Center) and is a member of the Lay Board, MIPC (NYU Medical Center). Brian received a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University.
